GLAC Navaratri Golu | Bomma Koluvu | Bombe Habba contest

'Tis going to be the season of Navaratri around the world pretty soon. Navarathri is the annual festival which brings people together once a year where ladies dress up in their beautiful outfits, savor various delicacies and enjoy the beautifully decorated golus. Navaratri brings in positivity and prosperity all around the world and brings people together in more ways than you can imagine.

Navaratri is usually the time to prepare delicious dishes, draw Kolams, plan and arrange Golus, inviting guests to your house, performing poojas and enjoy some good Carnatic music.

We are encouraging people to showcase & reminisce their past Golus virtually via our Virtual Navaratri Golu Global contest. Let's cherish these memories as we pray to the divine mother that the current crisis is over soon.

Contest Rules:

This is a 'fun' virtual Golu contest open until Oct 31, 2023
Create a collage of your current Golus or your past Golus (if you don't have one this year) into one photo collage or video
Self nominate yourself via the Facebook tag - #2023GLACGlobalGolu
Optional: Entries can also be uploaded on the '2023 GLAC Global Golu' Sarovar GLAC's Facebook album (request access)
Winners will be selected based on the number of Facebook likes and/or the final judges discretion
All pictures should be without people

Fine Print:
-Winners will have a permanent place in the GLAC Global Golu Wall of Fame Page
- GLAC Executive Committee members cannot participate in the contest.
- Entries should be accompanied by a description of the theme/or other details of the Kolu.
- The contest is done in good faith. It should be your Golu.
- The prizes will be announced online. Past prizes include free tickets to the Hariharan Show and Bombay Jayashree Concert
- This is a 'fun' contest and the decisions of the judges is final and not meant to be challenged in online forums.
- Global Rasikas will be recognized if won, but will not be taken for local prizes (if offered that year)

GLAC has been celebrating our rich culture and heritage with the Michigan Navaratri Festival at the Bharatiya Temple and now taking the spirit of Navaratri further with a virtual Navaratri Kolu / Bomma Koluvu / Bombe Habba contest, which is now open to the public.

The golu is completely handmade. From kids to elders, there is something interesting for every age group. There are 17 different themes showcasing traditional to modern concepts.

Chettinad Veedu - representing the characters of a karaikudi house - from thooku chattis to brass & soapstone cookware, belgium checked flooring, aathangudi tiles, aaiyiram (1000) jannal, siru odu roofing, ravi varma paintings. Also, this year, i have added a small piece of a breastfeeding mother and a father enjoying their new phase of parenthood.
